This new-fangled technology...

I discovered today that I am old.

A friend of mine pressured me to get a Facebook profile. I already have a MySpace page, but apparently, all the cool kids are on Facebook. I signed up, uploaded pictures, put in a little bit of a profile and settled back to watch the friends pour in.

The next time I checked my e-mail, I had several friend requests that I had to go approve. Once I did, I started looking at their profiles. I couldn't make a damn bit of sense out of any of them. There's too much to look at, and I can't tell where the layout is or who said what about who. (whom? Damn me for falling asleep in English the day of who/whom!) After puzzling over this stupid Facebook thing, it occurred to me. This must be how my mom feels when she is on the internet or using her e-mail. She gets the basics, but if she accidentally sorts her e-mail by sender rather than date, her whole world is thrown into chaos. That's me with the Facebook.
