Stepping Away from Rescue Temporarily

I'm very sad to say that I'm going to have to give up volunteering with the rescue for a little while.

Tony has a lot of drama going on at work. They are constantly cutting his payroll, to the point that he is working 80-85 hours a week, three days of which are by himself. As you can imagine, this is awful for him, mentally and physically. We've been discussing his options lately, and decided that he's going to hire me to work with him part time for minimum wage. That helps save him money on payroll (since no regular employees want to work for minimum wage) and gets him help so he's not overloaded or alone. (After the dramatic difference in him on vacation versus at home, I can no longer sit back and watch him suffer.) Unfortunately, I'll be working open to close on Saturday and Sunday, my prime homecheck days, leaving me only week nights to get regular stuff like cooking, cleaning and grocery shopping done. We're hoping that this will be a short term solution through the end of the year, and I'll be able to resume my rescue activities in January, if not sooner. (I'm still fully committed to the 5k, I made that stipulation up front to Tony.) The rescue is very important to me, and it was a very hard decision to step away from it, even temporarily. Please know that I'll be back, I just have to do what's best for Tony right now.
