Simon/Gideon Day 2

Day 2
Tony and I joined Scott & Marie at Cherry Creek State Park to take all the dogs to the dog park.  Simon/Gideon did not join us.  Both because he is dog-reactive right now, and also because we need to make introductions to new environments slowly right now.  We all had a great time.  When we were done playing, we followed the Silverstein's back to their house so we could see Gideon.
Marie told us that he felt much worse overnight, woke up hourly, had rivers of green snot running out of his nose and was frantically trying to get out of his crate. He was barely sleeping, and he appeared to be having difficulty breathing. Marie wasn’t able to get a temp on him. We both think he is going to be a big handful as he starts to recover as he is quite strong for a guy that is so, so sick. Marie’s routine with Simon right now is to eat 4-5x/day, drink and then walk around the yard on leash and go potty, then go back to the crate and crash for 3-4 hours and do it all again.

His medical needs and timeline look something like this:

1. Gain some weight and strength
2. Visit to Dr Tonya Nussbaum at VRCC Denver this Thursday to see if we can do anything for his vision or if it is irreparable - it would be a pretty awesome little miracle of we could give him some vision back. I do not think he has always been blind as he does not have the usual coping methods that dogs that have been blind a long time have.
3. Recheck his blood work next week to see if the severe anemia has improved.
4. First heart worm treatment shot on 2/15
5. Heart worm shots 2 & 3 around mid March
6. Neuter/pexy/tail amputation and skin tag removal mid-April with Dr Cox at Deer Creek.

After all of that he should be ready for his forever home.
