I was recently appointed the Accounting Director for Big Dogs Huge Paws, Inc. I didn't get my degree in accounting, but took enough of it that I can get along just fine. (I'm thinking about going to school this fall for an associate's in accounting to help me along, though.)
Accounting is a good choice for me. I don't deal well with people due to my crippling shyness. I like numbers and making things clean and neat. After a bumpy start to my director-ship (What? It's a word) I'm off and running and....loving it. I realize this makes me a complete nerd, but I get a sense of satisfaction when I reconcile the bank statement against our account. While I don't look forward to the work involved in cleaning the accounting side up, I am excited to have the opportunity to make such a big difference.
